Lubrizol is currently seeking a Business Development Manager.
In this role, you are responsible for leading new business development opportunities in applications and markets adjacent to Lubrizol's traditional activities.
The successful candidate for this exciting entrepreneurial role will contribute to the diversification and growth of Lubrizol's business portfolio, ensuring that Lubrizol is well-positioned to secure sustainable growth.
The broad responsibilities of this role are based on actively contributing to the development of Lubrizol's understanding of end-use markets that are yet to be commercialized; identifying the problems to solve and how Lubrizol technologies can solve them; and to hunt, identify and evaluate high-value business opportunities for Lubrizol across those markets.
Business opportunities are advanced through the Innovation Process, from Scoping and Discovery through Incubation and ultimately to commercial acceleration.
In this context, the you will:
Support and drive projects and business opportunities within Innovation and Sustainable Solutions' Energy portfolio, including Immersion Cooling for data centres and Energy Storage technologies such as fuel cell, electrolysis and next-generation batteries.
Manage engagements with value chain participants:
Immersion Cooling (e.
g.
, tank and server OEMs, data centre operators, end users) Energy Storage (e.
g.
, fuel cell, battery, and electrolysis industry stakeholders) Ensure and record a total of least ten (10) engagements with current or prospective partners monthly across each of the Immersion Cooling and Energy Storage verticals described above.
Register all external engagements in Lubrizol's CRM system, endeavouring to record and distribute notes for engagements within forty-eight (48) business hours of the meeting.
Contribute to delivering >$18MM in revenues and > $10MM in material margin for Innovation and Sustainable Solutions in 2023.
Financial targets will be established in accordance with Corporate financial targets as determined.
What you will do:
Drive commercial activities for Immersion Cooling and Energy Storage Identify new customers with unmet needs and establish strong, collaborative relationships Represent Lubrizol with professionalism and maturity to establish and grow strategic partnerships Hunt new opportunities and drive through the innovation process (Real Win Worth - Agile Gate) Create compelling, distinctive, and differentiated value propositions for new opportunities Own, champion and take responsibility for a defined portfolio of activities and projects Lead projects in a manner that optimizes use of Lubrizol expertise, technology, and services Design and optimize business models to enhance and maximize commercial potential for Lubrizol Search for, explore, and recommend new targets and improvements to ongoing initiatives Develop robust business plans and be comfortable presenting proposals to senior management Terminate unviable or undesirable opportunities efficiently to refocus on the next opportunity Set commercial targets; establish commercial frameworks; structure pricing proposals.
Define budgets, resource needs, milestones, and targets for business development projects Monitor global and regional trends and communicate findings to the wider team.
Work effectively across Lubrizol:
Business Development / R&D / Strategic Technology / Testing / CM&I / Operations Contribute to assessing technologies and services; and to designing the Innovation Roadmap What you need:
Bachelor's or Advanced degree in a Business or Technical discipline from an accredited university Mastery of written English and fluency in spoken English Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for a wide range of stakeholders Motivated self-starter who enjoys taking initiative and working with autonomy Strong capability to influence others and to think both strategically and analytically Ability to work effectively with other team members and across the Lubrizol organization Experience in sales, technical sales or business development is preferred Demonstrated ability and appetite to implement and execute new solutions and value selling Available to travel (mainly within the U.
S.
