Job Summary¬ 

The Mechanical Design Technician supports Lubrizol by collaborating with Mechanical Testing engineers and technicians in the design and documentation of test stands, including creating P&ID's and 3D models, Bills of Material, and 2D construction drawings. ¬ This role will also act as a subject matter expert (SME) in the area of test cell mechanical installation and be the focal point for maintenance mechanic training related to test stand builds.¬ 



  • Partner with Process Design and Test Engineers for Test stand design and installations which include: engines, transmissions, and axles

  • Evaluate "fit for purpose"

  • Identify opportunities for subassemblies or spare parts

  • Identify efficiency improvement opportunities in the test stand construction process

  • Design special fixtures in support of testing, and create documentation to support their fabrication

  • Create. modify, and maintain 3D and 2D CAD drawings

  • Own and manage 3D and 2D drawing database

  • Consult on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and systems

  • Assist with estimating job labor and material costs

  • Responsible for drawing and test stand documentation administration

  • Create complete BOM's for stands / assemblies

  • Benchmark and collaborate with other facilities

  • Expected to participate in and identify LEAN improvement projects

  • Search / identify new technologies or approaches

  • Lead and participate in design reviews

  • Develop and enhance collaboration with project Data Acquisition and Control / Instrument groups


Education, Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years' experience in CAD work, preferably 2D and 3D

  • Knowledge of requirements for servicing and maintaining industrial process equipment

  • Beneficial Experience

    • Experience with SolidWorks modeling software

    • Millwrighting experience

    • Welding, brazing, pipe-fitting, and plumbing skills

    • Fabricating experience

    • Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience

    • Math and computer skills

    • Energy source and hazard awareness

    • Experience with various tools of the trade

    • Previous experience in an industrial environment experience

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
