Summary:

The Utility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing operations of the Boiler House, Cooling Towers and Closed Loops.
The Utility Supervisor supervises the operators in these areas to ensure safe and efficient operation in support of plant production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for department personnel on all four shifts.
    Direct the work assignments and training of all personnel assigned to the department.
  • Communicate and administer company and plant policies, plans and priorities including plant safety and environmental programs and goals.
    Monitor awareness, attitudes, and results.
  • Monitor unit performance of the Boiler House and chemical feeds of cooling towers and the associated closed loop systems.
    Monitor productivity, motivating personnel to improve productivity as needed.
  • Review each employee's work performance at regular intervals.
  • Approve timecards, vacations and monitor call offs.
  • Operate in a safe and environmentally clean manner.
  • Review daily logs to for updates on unit performance, problems, etc.
    Perform troubleshooting functions in any problem areas.
  • Recommend equipment and/or procedure improvements where applicable.
  • Support Manager in defining departmental goals and generating a long range plan around people, operations and costs.
  • Lead safety and housekeeping in regards to Boiler Operations.
  • Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance shutdowns.
  • Participate and assist with planning of regulatory testing.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, and other related functions for the department.
  • Communicate operational status, department needs, problems, opportunities and priority status updates to Superintendent.
  • Renewal of licenses and certification of operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications,
Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Must possess Ohio 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills; displays professionalism; experience with conflict resolution.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • High energy; positive attitude.
  • Dependable, honest and trustworthy.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.

Considered A Plus:

  • Degree from an accredited university.
  • Previous experience supervising employees.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal working hours 7:

    , Monday to Friday.
  • Willing/able to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and call-ins.
  • Work on ladders, lifts, pipe racks, and confined spaces.
  • Maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Work around chemicals, nuisance odors, and noise from operating areas.
  • Ability to lift, kneel, twist, and climb.
  • Must be willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
